Frequently asked questions

Switch Manager provides visibility into Cisco Meraki, Aruba AOS-CX, Fortinet FortiSwitch, Ubiquiti UniFi, and Ruckus SmartZone managed switches. Integration is via vendor APIs — no SNMP polling or out-of-band agent installation is required. Each vendor uses native API calls so data accuracy matches the vendor console.

For each port on every connected switch, Switch Manager collects: admin status (enabled/disabled), operational status (up/down), negotiated speed and duplex, VLAN assignment, PoE state and draw, and transmitted/received byte counters. This level of detail enables both capacity planning and anomaly detection at the port level.

Switch Manager tracks every connected client by MAC address, IP address, hostname, and device manufacturer — mapped to the exact port and VLAN they joined. New or unknown MAC addresses connecting to a switch port generate an Event Manager alert, enabling rapid identification of rogue or unauthorised devices on your switching layer.

ISO 27001 Annex A.8.20 requires controls to manage network security. Switch Manager's connected client tracking, VLAN audit, and port status monitoring provide documented evidence of network segmentation and access control enforcement — particularly useful during ISO 27001 audits where network architecture controls are a focus area.
